Earthquake Update
Dear Friends and Supporters of the J.A. Clermont Memorial Foundation,
It is hard to believe that we find ourselves needing to update you about even more catastrophic events that have befallen our beautiful Haiti.
Fortunately, all of the children and families being supported by the Clermont Foundation are safe and have not been directly affected by either the earthquake or tropical storm Grace. Our heartfelt condolences and prayers go out to those who've lost loved ones, were injured, or lost everything in these dual disasters.
Indirectly, however, the families we care for will experience the rising costs of goods and a shortage of supplies and staples as Haiti’s infrastructure has taken a blow that will affect all regions. Landslides due to tropical storm Grace are affecting traffic on the roads between the capital, Port-au-Prince and Jacmel, where our children live.
Next month, school will start, and the education system will struggle to re-open with damaged roads and buildings. We hope you will be able to support our children during our upcoming Back-to-School Drive. A separate email regarding this virtual fundraiser will be sent out next week.
Until then, we thank you for your inquiries about the children and your continued prayers and support for the children of Jacmel.
Sincerely,
Hervé Clermont
